Irgendwie hat es mich ja doch nicht ruhen lassen – mit dem Erscheinen der Final-Version des Intel-Treibers musste ich doch noch einmal die im letzten Beitrag angegebene Kombination aus aktuellen und frisch kompilierten Paketen von Xorg und Intel-Treibern inklusive GEM und UXA ausprobieren. Hier möchte ich nun die entstandenen Benchmarks zu Verfügung stellen…

Alles in allem scheinen die neuen Grafikkartentreiber von Intel wirklich etwas performanter zu sein, wenn auch nicht wirklich viel. Das als Testprogramm für 3D/OpenGL benutzte Spiel TuxRacer war unter den aktuell in den Arch Linux Repositories befindlichen Treibern bei 1024×768 nur schlecht spielbar, nun läuft das Spiel flüssig. Die GTK/2D-Performance scheint laut GtkPerf ebenfalls deutlich besser zu sein, subjektiv bemerkbar ist das allerdings nicht. Compiz Fusion ist und bleibt ein Härtefall: Die Effekte selbst laufen recht flüssig und angenehm ab, unbenutzbar bleibt aber wieder Firefox mit unglaublich langsamem Scrolling. Schade.

Testsystem: 1Ghz Celeron ULV, 1,5Gb RAM, Intel 855GMA Shared Memory, jeweils frisch gestartetes, aktuelles Arch Linux/Kernel 2.6.28-3/Gnome-System ohne weitere laufende Programme abgesehen von einem Terminal.

Als Option in /etc/X11/xorg.conf wurde ausschliesslich "AccelMethod" "UXA" verwendet. BackingStore lässt sich zwar aktivieren, hat aber keinen Einfluss auf die Benchmarks. PageFlip lässt sich nicht aktivieren da DRM mind. in Version 1.9 benötigt wird.

Nachtrag: Leider haben sich durch die neuen Pakete störende Bildfehler eingeschlichen – damit bleibt es bei den alten vorläufig Paketen.
